How DOL Cards Work
After you complete your OSHA 30 course, the authorized trainer submits your completion data to USDOL. USDOL then mails a wallet-size card to your address. Processing takes 4 to 6 weeks under normal conditions. The card is valid for life and does not expire.

OSHA 30 Requirements at a Glance
Official requirements pulled from OSHA.gov guidelines.
30 Contact Hours Required
Must complete all 30 hours. Cannot skip or rush through self-paced modules.
OSHA-Authorized Trainer
Course must be taught by or through an OSHA-authorized outreach trainer.
Required Topics: Fall Protection, Electrical, PPE
These three modules are mandatory in every OSHA 30 Construction program.
No Expiration (But May Vary by State)
The DOL card does not expire, but some states and contracts require renewal every 5 years.
30 Contact Hours Required
General industry version covers hazards specific to manufacturing, warehousing, and industrial settings.
Required Topics: Machine Guarding, LO/TO, Hazcom
Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, and Machine Guarding are mandatory modules.

Elective Topics: 6–8 Hours
Trainers choose elective topics from an approved list to fill remaining hours.
Must Be 18+ Years Old
OSHA outreach training is only issued to workers who are 18 or older.

What is OSHA 30?

The OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training Program is a voluntary worker safety program designed for supervisors and workers with safety responsibility. Developed under the U.S. Department of Labor’s OSHA Outreach Training Program, it covers a broad range of safety topics relevant to construction or general industry worksites.
